Functions of the Office of Resident Commissioner

The Resident Commissioner, Meghalaya House, Delhi acts as a representative/Ambassador of the State of Meghalaya at the National capital of Delhi.

The Office of the Resident Commissioner, Meghalaya House, Delhi has a variety of roles and duties such as, but not limited to the following:

  1. 1. Representing the State Government in meetings at Delhi.
  2. 2. To liaise with Central Government, other State Government to promote cooperation and investments in the interest of the state, as well as for international cooperation.
  3. 3. To coordinate with potential investors including the GOI Officials and International agencies (bilateral and multilateral).
  4. 4. Management of both the State Guest Houses & Protocol.
  5. 5. Promotes the local talents, local products, tourism and the culture & traditions of Meghalaya.
  6. 6. To facilitate and support the state Government to obtain information on issues concerning the State.
  7. 7. To coordinate with the central Government on various issues for e.g., Disaster Management, Home Affairs, Schemes etc.
  8. 8. To assist and redress the problems faced by the residents of Meghalaya residing in Delhi.
  9. 9. Conduct programmes for the Students from the state under the Chief Minister's career guidance programme.
  10. 10. Attestation of documents and certificates of students passing out from the State of Meghalaya on fulfilling the required conditions.
